Happy Caturday Sweet Furiends!!! This week has been a great week! When Mumma and I decided to start out on Instagram @tipperswobblykitty and with this blog we wanted to raise awareness of Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). Our aim was to help people understand the condition with the hope of preventing affected kitties from being abandoned or euthanized. We also want to help 2Foots realize that it is ok to be ‘different’, even with a disability you still have choices as to how you allow it to affect you.
This week I reached 1500 followers on Instagram!! Holy Mackeral!!! That means that not only do I have 1500 amazing furiends but it also means that there are 1500 people who know that CH kitties are just the cutest thing!!! I also got to make another furiend that has CH and during these past few weeks she has been an amazing advocate for Cerebellar Hypoplasia; her name is Geordi @geordiolive.
Geordi is an adorable, tuxedo kitty that Mumma and I fell in love with last week when we saw her on Facebook! She may only be 4 months old but already she has already been a huge inspurration around the world. Geordi’s story started in a very similar way to mine. She was was found as a stray and taken to a local Humane Society. She was taken into Watauga Humane Society in November of 2015, and was loved and nurtured until she was ready for find her furever home. Watauga Humane Society posted a video of Geordi, formerly known as Olive, on their Facebook page and holy cat nip!!! The world fell in love with her!
Well, who wouldn’t fall in love with a cute, tuxedo, wobbly kitty!! The video that Watauga Humane Society posted on Facebook received over 1.4 million shares and over 22,000 shares!!! The humane society located in North Carolina, USA were inundated with people interested in adopting little Olive; requests even came from as far as Australia! Holy Kangeroos!! That is amazing!! She is a special kitty for sure!!
Like all of us CH kitties, Geordi is completely unaware that she has a disability or that she is any different to other kitties OR that she has captured so many hearts!! She is a happy go lucky little girl who lives life to the best of her ability. I am sure that she must have heard me say, ‘When life throws you wobbles, get back up and try again!!’ Cos’ guess what……. She gets back up and tries again in her cute and adorable wobbly way!!
Geordi’s was named after a character on Star Trek, a man named Geordi La Forge. He was born blind and never let his disability get the best of him. This is a characteristic which completely represents the spirit of a CH kitty!! Geordi has been an amazing inspurration for kitties with disabilities and has achieved so much in promoting awareness of Cerebellar Hypoplasia; I am sure that she will continue to do so. I am excited that she is my new furiend and I am looking forward to seeing her grow and blossom over the coming months!
Like me, Geordi has been blessed with a wonderful, loving home, she now lives with her amazing, 2Foot parents and two 4Foot feline siblings!! You can keep up to date with Geordi’s inspurrational story and absolute cuteness by following her on Instagram. @geordiolive
Remember kitties, ‘When life throws you wobbles, get back up and try again!!
